The procedure involves injecting a solution into each affected vein near the surface of the skin which causes the blood in the vein to reroute and circulate through healthier veins. The damaged vein then collapses and is reabsorbed into local tissue and eventually fades. Sclerotherapy treatment is minimally invasive and treated veins tend to fade within a few weeks, although occasionally it may take up to two months to see the full results.
